New and Improved Features in V3
Toon Boom Studio version 3 empowers artists with improvements to animation keyframing, asset reuse, lip synchronization and the user interface, so that you can make better animations quicker. Version 3 significantly simplifies the creation of cut-out animation.
User Interface
-
Toon Boom Studio V3 offers a simplified user interface as the Drawing and Sceneplanning modes are now one.
-
Switch between Drawing, Camera, Top and Side Views in one window.
-
Now you can save window layouts.
-
On Mac OS, we now render using Quartz® and provide anti-aliasing.
Create Text
-
With the new Text
tool, you can now add and animate text for web presentations, comic strips and more.
Animating
-
Use the new Transform
tool to create scaling, rotation, and skewing keyframes from one tool.
-
With the new Skew
tool, you can animate skewing.
-
Motion, rotation and scaling keyframes in the Timeline help you visualize the timing of your pegs better.
-
Create constant keyframes (with no tweening) by default.
-
A new bar in the frames section of the Timeline help you distinguish between tweened and constant segments.
-
With single-cell selection, you can select and modify individual keyframes in the Timeline.
-
The Constant Z and Snap Last Keyframe options make it easier to work with keyframes.
-
Create constant velocity function by default with the Create Linear Splines preference.
-
The Show Outline on Selection and Selection Always Visible options improve your ability to work with selections.
-
When you have an element selected under a parent peg, the parent peg is highlighted in green in the Timeline.
Lip Synching
-
Improved sound scrubbing enables accurate adjustments to the lip synchronization.
Drawing
-
The Cutter
tool now allows you to divide regions with a stroke. You can then move, delete or transform those selections with the Select tool.
-
The new Scissor
tool allows you to cut rectangular or lasso selections from painted drawing objects as the old Cutter tool did.
-
Now, when you create strokes over painted regions, they are displayed when you activate Show Strokes.
-
The Reposition All tool works on gradients and textures.
Exposure Sheet
-
The layering order in the Exposure Sheet has been updated. Now, the topmost layer in your animation is to the left in the Exposure Sheet.
Export
-
You can now create compressed SWF files at export.
